Description
Veenat 400 contains imatinib mesylate, which belongs to a group of drugs called corticosteroids that reduce inflammation. It is indicated for the treatment of chronic myelogenous leukemia and acute lymphoblastic leukemia with the Philadelphia chromosome in adults and children.
Leukemia is a cancer of the white blood cells whose cells normally help the body fight infection. VEENAT is also used to treat myelodysplastic/myeloproliferative disease, hypereosinophilic syndrome (HES) and/or chronic eosinophilic leukemia, gastrointestinal stromal tumors and protruding dermatofibrosarcoma in adults. Tyrosine kinases are proteins that act as chemical messengers that cancer cells use to signal each other to grow. This drug works by blocking this enzyme and stopping the growth of cancer cells.
Take this medication at the dose and frequency recommended by your doctor. Swallow whole with a large glass of water. It can be taken with food. Common side effects are fluid retention, weight gain.
